History

A HISTORY OF INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS

It all started in 1981. An CSI-A was organized for the first time at the Porto Caras resort in Chalkidiki in Northern Greece

In 1991, the Hellenic Equestrian Federation, after its formation, organized a CSI-A at the National Equestrian Centre (former Cavalry Centre) in Goudi, in downtown Athens. This event then became an annual CSIO serving for ten years as the Final of the Central European League for the Nations Cup and World Cup Series.

In addition to the CSIO taking place non-stop until 2011, a number of other international competitions have been organized by the HEF in Athens and in Greece, including the Mediterranean Games 1994, the European Jumping Championship for Juniors and Young riders in 2006, the European Jumping Championship for Children in 2008, the Onassis Equestrian Events (CSI3*, CSI5* and CSIO4*-W ) and a number of Balkan Championships.

ATHENS EQUESTRIAN FESTIVAL 2018

The Hellenic Equestrian Federation (GRE NF) in 2018 presented the โ€œAthens Equestrian Festival (AEF) 2018โ€ held at the Markopoulo Olympic Equestrian CentrefromJune1st toJune10th, 2018. The AEF 2018 offered two weeks of CSIO2*, CSI1*, CSIYH, CSICh jumping classes. The prestigious FEI Jumping Nations Cupโ„ข2018 โ€“the worldโ€Ÿ s biggest and most historic team Jumping series-returned to Athens, Greeceafter2011.CoursedesignerforCSIO2*-W was the world renowned FEI Level4 designer, Mr. Christian โ€žKiksโ€Ÿ Wiegand(GER).

Five teams competed in Nations Cup and 32 participated in the Grand Prix of Athens. Italy was the winner of the NC and Angel Niagolov (BUL) won the Grand Prix.

ATHENS EQUESTRIAN FESTIVAL 2019

The Hellenic Equestrian Federation organized the AEF 2019, with the LONGINES FEI Jumping Nations Cup Division 2 Final, on July 25-28, 2019.

The top European jumping teams along with the Greek team competed at the CSIO5* -W, an event that belonged at the highest international classification of five stars, organized for the first time in Greece at the Olympic Equestrian Center in Markopoulo.

Norway was the winner of the Longines FEI Jumping NC Final Division 2.

Grand Prix winner of the Longines GP of the Athens CSIO*5-W was Rodrigo Almeida & Kafka V from Portugal.
