With Italy claiming victory for the second consecutive year, the prestigious Longines EEF Series CSIO3*-W jumping event concluded successfully last night at Ippos Club in Thessaloniki. In the most important competition of the four-day event, the LES Greece Nations Cup, which recorded a participation record with ten nations competing for the first time, Italy comfortably secured the title for a second consecutive year.
Two members of the winning team repeated last year’s success: Roberto Turchetto riding Bubalou and Bruno Chimirri riding Je Suis Codot d’Archeronte. They were joined by Bruno’s daughter, Elisa Chimirri riding Cornico, who competed alongside her father in a Nations Cup team for the first time, and Matteo Zamana riding Captain Conner. Italy finished with a total of four penalties across both rounds. Germany placed second with 16 penalties, while Hungary secured third place with 20 penalties.
The Greek team made a strong effort but ultimately finished in 8th place with 36 penalties. The team consisted of Ioli Mytilineou riding Casanova, competing for the first time with the national team on home soil, Aikaterini Laskaridi riding Hilada, Dimitris Natsis riding Cresco, and Ilias Baliousis riding Ice Tea du Golfe.
The prize-giving ceremony for the competition that brought the event to a celebratory close was conducted by Ms Dimitra Morisaiou, Chief Executive Officer of Longines Hellas and representative of the title sponsor Longines; Mr Alan Atabaka, Member of the Board of the European Equestrian Federation; Mr Georgios Dimaras, Member of the Board of the Hellenic Equestrian Federation; Mr Nikos Siafaras, Show Director; and Mr Karoly Fougli, Foreign Judge and Member of the Ground Jury.
